#KulturBrauchtRaum – for the preservation of subsidised work and rehearsal spaces!
Dear artists of all disciplines,

due to the current cuts by the Berlin Senate, some subsidised work and rehearsal spaces are already under acute threat, and the continued existence of many more is jeopardised. The Senate’s next double budget (2026/2027) will bring further cuts. Artistic workspaces that have only just been saved will then be up for debate again. This affects all subsidised ateliers, studios and rehearsal rooms for music and the performing arts.

Subsidised workspaces are a prerequisite for the work of creative artists in this city. Once subsidised spaces are given up by the Senate, they are lost forever for the cultural workers who make this city so special, but at the same time earn very little.
Due to price developments on the Berlin property market, spaces without funding are simply not affordable for many people who keep the cultural sector running.

It is therefore important to draw attention to this acute threat to our work spaces!
Let’s fight together for our spaces and for our right to the city centre!

In protest against creeping displacement, we are taking our work to the streets without further ado. We cordially invite you to work, rehearse, make music, write, paint, draw and sculpt with us in front of (and on) the cultural administration. Together we are strong!

Bring everything to the street that you usually do in your workspace;
a rehearsal, your easel, an instrument, your desk or your workshop…

The event is planned for the pavement in front of Weinbergspark in Brunnenstraße, diagonally opposite the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
