PREMIERE

1964. Sister ALOYSIUS runs a church school where Father FLYNN and Sister JAMES work as teachers. He takes great care of his pupils. Aloysus has her doubts about the priest’s moral integrity and has James keep an eye on him. When James reports to her how DONALD, an altar boy, is behaving strangely and smells of wine, Aloysus suspects Father Flynn of abusing the boy – or indeed the boys at all. A witch hunt ensues.

Doubt is a play about race, homosexuality and faith. The author won a Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
