“Strangers” – Views on migrants and refugees * An evening of theatre with music

1. 1 “The Strangers” – a sequence of scenes based on Jaques Krämer
It’s a lucky day for the professor when he discovers the artipod with golden wing covers and then the anthropomorph on his expedition in the jungle. His enthusiasm remains undimmed, even when anthropomorphs kidnap his daughter Bijou. He marvels at the dexterity of the newly discovered creatures and believes they could be useful back home. And when the anthropomorphs fight each other, the professor wants to give some of them shelter back home. The morphs soon arrive in the country in droves – and they are met with mistrust and rejection…

2. “The Strangers” – For More Compassion by William Shakespeare, German by Frank Günther – With additional scenes to clarify the historical context
London on 1 May 1517: the resentment of the locals against refugees from Belgium and Flanders is growing. They feel disadvantaged and resist the eating habits of the foreigners and the creeping takeover of many areas of life. Riots break out. Violence is in the air. The military stands ready. The humanist and churchman Thomas More succeeds in calming the people with a committed and emotional speech. The weapons are laid down. But More cannot prevent the ringleaders from paying for the uprising with their lives.
