LOCATION SCHÖNEWEIDE – B PART OPENING

Schöneweide reopens 16 rehearsal rooms from 7 April 2025!

Construction work and Berlin, the outskirts of the city and public transport connections, rehearsal spaces and the independent performing arts – it’s been hard to please anyone with these topics these days. We, on the other hand, can boast rehearsal rooms with a view of the Spree, 6 S-Bahn and 2 bus connections and a completed ‘B-Part’ – our location in Schöneweide, which we have been using since 2021 while it has been extensively renovated for us and especially for you, will finally be partially reopened. Bookings can be made from 1 April 2025, and the doors of the B-Part will be open for rehearsals from 7 April.

This venue has been dedicated to art for 74 years. In 1951, the College for Acting, as the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts was then known, moved into the former boathouse in Schnellerstraße. In 1981, the new university building attached to the boathouse was opened. Another 40 years later, theaterhaus berlin took over the building as a rehearsal and production centre for independent performing artists and has rented out the rehearsal rooms in the front part of the building ever since.

We are used to construction delays in Berlin. However, we didn’t expect to have to close our Schöneweide location completely for seven months at the beginning of September 2024 so that the rehearsal rooms in the rear part of the building could be completed. We are therefore all the more pleased to have 16 beautiful rehearsal rooms and perfect rehearsal conditions – Spree view included. You can enjoy this especially in our grand piano room.In the ballet hall, the original mirrored wall has been restored and the rooms on the 2nd floor have a ceiling height of 3.80m to 4m almost without exception.

The rehearsal rooms in the front part of the building and the studio stage, which you were able to use until the end of August 2024, are expected to be available again at the beginning of 2026. We are also working on accessibility and installing a lift that will make all rehearsal rooms accessible in future.

Many graduates, former and current employees of the ‘Ernst Busch’ have told us how much they enjoyed studying and working in Schöneweide. Come to Schöneweide, experience this place with us.
